Good times at Robcon 2010 (July 25, 2010)

Robcon 2010, the 25th anniversary of Mountain Empire Comics shows in the Tri-Cities in East Tennessee, was the best show of the year to date, and the second-best one day show ever for me. A bit of a slow start (first sale: an issue of The Ray out of the dollar boxes), then the crowds came; at one point I counted 11 people at my tables.

Contributing to near-record sales was everything across the spectrum: E-Man to Watchmen, Werewolf by Night, Spirit #1 (Fiction House), Ambrose Bierce, Brat Pack, DFE variants, Spawn, Predator, Metal Men, Green Arrow, Dark Knight TPB, Dr. Strange, Wonderland, John Carter, X-Files, Henry Aldrich, Deadpool, Vampirella, a high grade X-Men, a stack of Akira, Bart Simpson, Real McCoys, a 12-cent Spider-Man, Just A Pilgrim (all 9 issues), Godzilla, Star Wars, Final Crisis, Twilight Zone, Echo, Planetary, Martian Manhunter, Sherlock Holmes, Hulk paperback, Tarzan, Star Wars, a Boris hardcover, a Bart Simpson and many others.

A great show, and glad to see Robert Pilk at the show after his surgery. Lots of people at the costume contest. Bought nothing, other than the new Overstreet Price Guide (too busy to shop), but I did make trades for a box of Andy Griffith cards, and Little Al of the FBI #10 (first issue).

In August there is the Charlotte Comicon (August 1) and the 13th annual Virginia Vintage Comics Show, with our largest number of dealers ever.
